Meiji period (late 19th century), signed in inlaid silver Nihon koku Kyoto ju Komai sei and with inlaid inscription
Of rectangular shape with rounded corners, worked in gilt and silver nunomezogan, hirazogan and takazogan with a large central panel of a carver admiring his completed life-sized doll, the process described in the inscription above the seated sculptor, meiko Hidari Jingoro kyoningyo (figure of a Kyoto doll made by master Hidari Jingoro), within a fretwork border and wider band of interlocking roundels containing various seasonal and festive scenes, shakudo rim
