Khmer, Angkor Period, Bayon style, 12th/13th century
Dancing on a curved branch, wearing a short sampot with swirling sash and ornate necklace, her hands raised above her head, her smiling face with hair pulled into a chignon and secured by a foliate tiara, a lock flowing from each side

Lot Essay

This bronze finial likely formed part of a Mahayana Buddhist grouping, mounted to a larger stem or column, cf. J. Boisselier, Le Cambodge, 1966, pl. LVIII; compare also with two bronze finials sold at Christie's New York, 23 March 1999, lot 208.
