Lot Essay

Liu Deliu was born in Wujiang, Jiangsu province and was the student of Yu Zhiding (1647-after 1709), who painted at the court of Emperor Kangxi. Liu was best known for his bird-and-flower paintings, and his renditions of plants, insects, and birds' plumage were particularly vivid.
