The shape and decoration of this pendant are based on Western Han dynasty prototypes, such as the example excavated from the tomb at Xishan, Yongcheng, Henan province, illustrated by Gu Fang, The Complete Collection of Unearthed Jades in China, vol. 5, Beijing, 2005, p. 135, which is also of white color.
