A HUANGHUALI THRONE-FORM MIRROR STAND, JINGTAI
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The top with curved crest rail surmounted by a flaming pearl and terminating in dragon heads, above reticulated panels divided into five sections, the center section carved with fu and shou characters formed by the bodies of writhing chilong amidst further stylized conjoined chilong repeated on the remaining four sections, beneath sloping side rails terminating in dragon heads above two front panels carved in open work with two additional chilong atop pearls, the front set with five drawers carved with leafy and floral scroll above shaped aprons carved with further conjoined leafy scroll on the front, the whole supported on short cabriole legs terminating in scroll-form feet
