AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF CARVED RED LACQUER DOUBLE VASE-FORM BOXES AND COVERS
QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The cover of each formed by the conjoined hollowed upper bodies of the two vases, carved with a band of cicada-filled blades below decorative scroll bands and a band of upright leaves on the waisted necks, with a recessed flat base that fits over the hollow lower section carved with a band of dragon scroll and raised on the spreading blade-carved feet of the two vases
