A MASSIVE BLUE AND WHITE BALUSTER VASE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722)
The body well painted with phoenixes, cranes, and a peacock in a lush setting of peonies and trees, with numerous small birds nestled amidst their branches and in flight beneath a band of scrolling clouds and borders of bamboo and crosshatch designs at the base of the tapered neck, which is painted in similar fashion, the base with apocryphal six-character Jiajing mark within a double circle
