A RARE FAMILLE ROSE HEXAGONAL HU-FORM VASE
QIANLONG/JIAQING PERIOD (1736-1820)
The faceted body painted with the branches of three blossoming trees, the flowers on one of pink color, on another of white color tinged with pink, and on the third of white color, this branch extending around to the reverse where an inscription is painted in black on the neck, with two magpies seated on a branch while a third descends from the shoulder, the neck flanked by a pair of lug handles painted in iron red and gilding with a bat suspending a ribbon-tied lingzhi sprig

Lot Essay

A similar vase, dated Qianlong, is illustrated in The Complete Collection of Treasures of the Palace Museum - 39 - Porcelains with Cloisonne Enamel Decoration and Famille Rose Decoration, Hong Kong, 1999, p. 102, no. 88. Unlike the present vase, the handles of the Palace Museum vase are undecorated.
