EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Painted with a continuous garden scene of narcissus, nandina and lingzhi growing amidst ornamental rockwork, with the characters dayazhai and an oval seal mark with the phrase Tian di yi jia chu ('Springtime in Heaven and Earth, One Family') in iron red, all below alternating pink, yellow and turquoise-ground bands with the decorative elements painted en grisaille, the shoulders flanked by a pair of deer-head handles, the base with iron-red mark reading, Yong qing chang chun ('eternal joy and everlasting spring')
