Ronnie Peterson.
Winner of 10 Grands Prix. Team Lotus driver from 1973 until 1976 and again in 1978.
Pole Position 14 times including 9 in one season (1973). Ronnie Peterson was generally accepted as the quickest driver of his era, his full potential realised when he joined Team Lotus in 1973, driving the most competitive car of the year. He won his first Grand Prix at Paul Ricard and winning at Öesterreichring, Monza and Watkins Glen. His ultimate speed forced Emerson Fittipaldi to leave the team for McLaren and in 1974, in the ageing Lotus 72 (its 5th season) he still won at Monaco, Dijon and again at Monza.
This very recognisable metallic blue helmet with it's Swedish-Yellow peak and banding, is his 1973 helmet, decorated with the original John Player Special display above the dark visor, it carries the Texaco decal on the chin and Ronnie's personal sponsor, Vicks Lozenges, on each side. The visor having three ventilation holes crudely drilled through. (Fittipaldi left taking the Texaco sponsorship, replaced by Duckhams in 1974.) This is the only surviving helmet of Ronnie Peterson's greatest period.
