Plates and illustrations, some chromolithographic, after Herbert Ponting, Edward Wilson and others. (Some occasional light offsetting, minor adhesion to first plate.) Original blue ribbed cloth, spine lettered in gilt, the upper cover with gilt lettering and rope-work surrounding centrally-placed inset pictorial cloth panel, gilt edges (new endpapers, extremities lightly rubbed, top corners bumped). Provenance: Irene M. Kegg (bookplate visible under recent front pastedown).
