This monument [The Cathedral at Athens] has so interested me that I have photographed it from every angle; furthermore it is extremely picturesque and fortunately the images I have made of it rank among my most successful.

The Agios Efetherios was built during Ottoman rule, in the 11th century, using fragments of ancient marble. In this plate, Girault de Prangey focuses on the detailing of the southern façade of the building.
