A GEORGE III SILVER SOUP TUREEN
MARK OF WILLIAM FOUNTAIN, LONDON, 1802
Bellied oval with gadroon rim, on acanthus leaf and stylised paw feet, bifurcated ribbed side handles terminating in foliate scrolls, part-fluted cover, crested and engraved to front with coat of arms
14 in. (36 cm.) long
109 oz. (3379 gm.)
The arms are for Caulfeild of Charlemont, Armagh impaling another within a strap and buckle with the Caulfeild motto whereas the crest appears to be for Hall (see footnote for lot 48, the similar pair of sauce tureens).
