Orientalist Bazaar The colours, textures, patterns and above all characters modelled in bronze throughout the 19th and into the 20th century reflect something of the fascination held in Europe and beyond of Near Eastern and North African culture. The 'cold painted' bronzes shown here are typical of the variety produced by the Viennese specialist foundry of Xavier Bergman. Carpets and simple furniture further enhance colour. The vibrancy of this mother-of-pearl veneered occasional table is exceptional, its geometric panels and arcaded base mirroring typical architectural features.
