This group of four basso relievo flower pictures are likely to have been part of Samuel Dixon's 1748 set of twelve and one of these, with tulip, purple anemone and pulsatilla, also features in lot 180. A comparable example is illustrated in Ada K. Longfield, op. cit., 1980, p.4, fig.3.
