Lot Essay

The simple form, choice of fine quality mahogany including for drawer linings, and particularly the form of the foot indicate the work of Gillows. A related example is illustrated in Susan E. Stuart, Gillows of London and Lancaster 1730-1840, 2008, vol. II, pl. 531, p.9.
