Lot Essay

Piper stayed in Finisterre, Brittany between 1960-1961, where he worked on drawings of the coast. Brittany Beach creates a representation of the open landscape through the use of dispersed watercolour, ink, and cut-out marbled papers in order to signify particular features of the beach.
