Lot Essay

Arms Research have kindly confirmed from the Wilkinson records that 1159 was the second pistol forming a pair with 1158, both being completed on 15th June 1816. They are described as 'City Pistol with a swivel rod' and are noted as being 'ribbed' and 'screwed together' by Lock and stocked by Dennis

Cf. a similar pistol, serial no. 1091, sold at Christie's King Street, 16 December 1999, Lot 332
