A LATE VARIANT 10-BORE (2 5/8IN) J.D. DOUGALL 1860 PATENT DOUBLE-BARRELLED SLIDE-AND-TILT SIDE-LEVER 'LOCKFAST' HAMMERGUN

With damascus sighted black powder proved barrels signed 'J.D. DOUGALL. GUN & RIFLE MANUFACTURER TO H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES. 59 ST. JAMES'S ST. LONDON' on the rib, carved serpentine fences, border and scroll engraved non-rebounding sidelocks and action with rear-facing push-down side-lever, the former each signed 'J.D. DOUGALL', the latter signed 'J.D. DOUGALL'S PATENT LOCKFAST' and with protruding bosses to the action face, the tang engraved with the Prince of Wales feathers, figured walnut stock with chequered grip and fore-end, silver escutcheon, and border and scroll engraved heal and toe plates
