THE FIRST BY JOHNSON, MIDDN., CONN., DATED '1837', THE SECOND SIGNED DERINGER, PHILADELA., CIRCA 1845-50
The first with sighted barrel, flat bevelled lock signed 'U.S. JOHNSON MIDDN. CONN. 1837' and with rounded tail and brass pan, regulation walnut half-stock with inspection stamp opposite the lock, iron mounts, and iron stirrup ramrod; the second with sighted rifled barrel, engraved back-action lock, replacement walnut full stock, and engraved white metal mounts
