A VERY RARE CASED 28-BORE HAND-ROTATED SIX-SHOT DOUBLE-HAMMER BOXLOCK PERCUSSION PISTOL

With substantial fluted barrel-block bored from the solid and engraved with a band of foliage at each muzzle, each pair of barrels with a white metal fore-sight, the centre of the barrel-block with a screw-in steel ramrod with knurled finial, breeches each engraved with a spray of scrollwork and retaining traces of original case-hardened finish, border and scroll engraved bolted action retaining traces of original case-hardened finish, circular nipple-shield with four downturned guards, the upper tang signed 'B. COGSWELL 224. STRAND LONDON', figured finely chequered walnut butt fitted with a border engraved aperture for an attachable shoulder-stock, and border and scroll engraved spurred trigger-guard, London proof marks, in adapted lined and fitted period oak case with Dixon powder-flask, the lid with Deane & Son trade label, the exterior with circular brass escutcheon
