With octagonal sighted barrel with 'SAML. COLT' script signature and retaining some original blued finish, cylinder with stage coach scene, frame with hand engraved 'COLTS PATENT', brass grip-strap and trigger-guard each retaining much original silvered finish, the former engraved 'MAJ. GEN. HAVELOCK, C.B. BY FREDERIC TUDOR, BOSTON. USA.A 1857', ivory one-piece grips, and matching numbers throughout, the principle numbers each with the letter 'I', the barrel, frame, grip-strap, trigger-guard and loading-lever lug each with Gustave Young style scroll engraving, that on the left side of the barrel-lug inhabited by a dog's head, the hammer engraved with a wolf's head

He exported ice harvested in the lakes of New England to Europe, the Caribbean and India from around 1826. The likely intended recipient of this revolver was Major General Havelock of Indian Mutiny fame who died a few days after the siege of Lucknow was raised effectively ending the Mutiny
