With rounded sighted barrel with single line 'ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA', rebated cylinder with naval scene, the three-screw frame cut for a shoulder-stock and stamped 'COLTS PATENT', iron grip-strap, brass trigger-guard with no calibre designation, walnut one-piece grips with worn inspector's marks, the base of the left grip incised with the initials 'J.N.G.', and matching numbers throughout, the major parts struck with inspection letters
