A CASED FACTORY ENGRAVED .36 'MODEL 1851' SIX-SHOT SINGLE-ACTION PERCUSSION NAVY REVOLVER
COLT, LONDON, SERIAL NO. 2118/. FOR CIRCA 1853
With octagonal sighted barrel with one line 'ADDRESS COL: COLT. LONDON' and retaining some original blued finish, cylinder with naval engagement scene, frame with hand engraved 'COLTS PATENT' and retaining traces of original case-hardened finish, brass grip-strap and trigger-guard each retaining nearly all their original silvered finish, figured one-piece walnut grips, and matching numbers throughout with the exception of the wedge, the principle numbers with a dot, the muzzle, barrel-lug, frame, grip-strap, trigger-guard and loading-lever each with fine scroll engraving, the recoil-shields each engraved with a foliate motif, and the hammer with scroll and fish-scale engraving, London proof marks, in a fitted oak case lined with blue velvet with some accessories including a Sykes pistol-flask, 500 count W. & C. Eley cap tin and brass Colt Patent bullet-mould, the exterior with circular brass escutcheon engraved with the initials 'HJ'
