SELJUK IRAN, LATE 12TH/EARLY 13TH CENTURY
Of conical form on straight foot, the polychrome decoration painted over white opaque glaze with a single horseman in the centre within a red circle, the sloping walls with turquoise blue medallions alternating with cobalt-blue arabesques, the borders with red and turquoise blue roundels over a wavy-patterned ground, the lip with half-dot motifs, the reverse with a band of polychrome strapwork, areas of repainting, repaired breaks
8 1/8in. (20.6cm.) diam.
