'Abd al-Wahhab al-Husayni is recorded as a Husayni Sayyid of Mashhad and a grandson and pupil of Sultan 'Ali Mashhadi. None of his recorded works, which are all calligraphic folios, are dated. Qadi Ahmad met him in Mashhad when 'Abd al-Wahhab was 80 years old (Mehdi Bayani, Ahval va Asar-e Khosh-Nevisan, Vol. II, Tehran, 1346 sh., pp. 421-22 and V. Minorsky (translated), A Treatise by Qadi Ahmad son of Mir Munhsi, Calligraphers and Painters, 1959, Washington, p. 138).
