AN OTTOMAN GOLD-OVERLAID AND JADE-HILTED DAGGER
TURKEY, 19TH CENTURY
The single-edged tapering watered-steel blade with double curve, the flat edge with a curved projection tapering to the point, with a octagonally-faceted white jade hilt, the chape with inset coloured gemstones on cross-hatched ground, the blade overlaid with gold floral arabesques and geometric kufic inscriptions
