Lot Essay

This bear was sold into the collection as a Steiff and has a Steiff button; although he shares some characteristics, he is very obviously a Farnell. Farnell bears were one of Englands earliest bear manufacturers and it is very probable that made their first bear by copying an early Steiff example.
