This lion is not listed in the Steiff Sortiments, his body is based on the Mecki and dwarfs of the 1950s. The piece of paper has a handwritten message in pencil which reads 'Ein kunde aus U.S.A wünscht' which translates as 'A customer from the U.S.A. wishes... '. It is also stamped with a date 21 Apr ??. This was probably made as a promotional item and not actually put into production.
