Lot Essay

The arms are those of the Welsh families of Trevor, Mostyn, Dymock, Edwards, and Yonge of Bryniorcyn impaling those of another

This bowl is nearly identical in form to the Earl of Warrington's set of wash basins, described in his 1750 inventory as "Hand Basons for the Rooms." See James Lomax and James Rothwell, Country House Silver from Dunham Massey, 2006, cat. 54, pp. 110-111. Three lots of silver from the Earl of Warrington's collection are offered here (lots 151-153).
