Maker's mark of Bossard, Lucern, circa 1880
In the early 17th century style on circular waisted foot, chased with fruit, strapwork and matting, and with four applied monster and scroll brackets above, the stem formed as a mermaid on wave-work supporting the shell above, the shell enclosed in demi-figure straps with scalloped border, plain rim and shoulder capped by a sea monster, marked on base
