A PAIR OF ITALIAN SILVER WARMING-STANDS
Turin, circa 1840, maker's mark PB, probably for a member of the Borrani family
Circular, each on four paw feet, the plain body applied with two foliage handles and Royal accolé coats-of-arms, the upper part pierced with a palm band above beading and engraved with weights, inventory numbers and date 1853, marked in centres

Lot Essay

The coats-of-arms are those of Savoy for Victor-Emmanuel II who became King of Sardinia in 1849 and the first King of Italy in 1861. He married in 1842 Adelaïde, Archduchess of Austria.
