Maker's mark of Paul Callard, London, 1761, 1762, the knives unmarked probably German
Old English pattern with fiddle shoulders, engraved with a crest, the knives unengraved, comprising:
- Thirty-four table-spoons
- Thirty-six table-forks
- Thirty-five table-knives, with later steel blades
in fitted leather case (105)

Lot Essay

The crest is that of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The initials FIDC are a Latin abbreviation for "committed to trust". It is quite frequently used on German silver and found for example on a number of pieces from the Hanover Royal collection.
