Baluster-shaped with moulded bands, on circular spreading base, the pierced domed cover with knop finial, the body later engraved with a coat-of-arms beneath a helm on one side and with monogram FB conjoined on the other, marked on base

According to family tradition, this sugar caster was given by Mesdames Victoire and Adélaïde, the daughters of King Louis XV, to Couronne Bruys des Gardes whose father Gilbert Bruys des Gardes was Receveur Général des Domaines du Roi.
Then by descent to the present owner.
