Circa 1600, maker's mark CP, town mark possibly that of Neisse
On circular domed base with waisted center, chased with a band of fruit and strapwork and above with alternating masks and shaped oval cartouches chased with fish and dolphins, the stem formed as Hercules wearing the Nemean lion's skin and bearing on his shoulders the cup, the bowl repoussé and chased with three scenes emblematic of the Roman vertues, one with Mucius Scaevola in front of Porsenna, one with the fight between the Horatius and the Curiatius, the last with the sacrifice of the Consul Marcus Curtius, with masks and fruit swags between, the domed cover similarly chased and with warrior finial, marked on bowl
