Lot Essay

One of four copies by van der Ulft after a drawing by Jan de Bisschop in the Morgan Library (J. Shoaf, Dutch Drawings in the Pierpont Morgan Library: seventeenth to nineteenth centuries, New York, 2006, no. 29). One of the other copies is in the Louvre (F. Lugt, Inventaire Général des Dessins des Ecoles du Nord: Ecole Hollandaise, Paris, 1931, II, no. 767), while two are in the Musée des Beaux Arts, Brussels.
