Property from the Servais Collection (Lots 52 - 54) To be sold by the direct descendants of Alphonse Servais of Namur, Belgium. Alphonse Servais (1876 - 1954) was a highly-decorated serving officer in the Belgian army during World War I & II and an eclectic collector with a discerning eye and impeccable taste. The large collection, which includes European, African and Asian works of art was formed in the early 1900s, all purchased from reputable and trusted dealers of the time. Of baluster shape supported on a short tapering foot, carved in high relief around the exterior with the 'Eight Buddhist Emblems', bajixiang, amidst stylised blooms borne on leafy tendrils, the neck with intricate pierced and carved kui dragon handles, the gently domed cover carved with ruyi heads, the stone of an even pale tone
