AN ARCHAISTIC BRONZE JAR AND COVER, FANGHU
18TH/19TH CENTURY
Of rectangular baluster form, decorated with a band of taotie masks between pendent blades below a pair of birds confronted on raised flanges applied on the shoulder on two sides, and stylised dragon handles on the narrow sides, with a further small handle on the lower body on one side and flanges at the corners, the cover similarly decorated, with traces of gilding and with greenish-brown patination
