AN ATTRACTIVE SAPPHIRE THREE-STONE RING
Set with three cut-cornered rectangular-cut sapphires to the bombé pavé-set diamond half-hoop surround, mounted in platinum, circa 1950, size 6, with French assay mark

According to the owner, the sapphires set in this ring were purchased from the late Karan Singh, the Maharajah of Kashmir, in London circa 1950-1951. The Maharajah was a friend of the famed Parisian pearl dealer, Victor Rosenthal, who also knew the current owner's husband. Initially, the three stones were offered by Singh as a gift to the owner in Deauville. Upon her refusal, the Maharajah gave the stones to Rosenthal to be forwarded to her. In the end, the owner's husband purchased the sapphires for the nominal price of one thousand five hundred pounds
