Lot Essay

It is rare to find cloisonné enamel vessels of this period decorated with fish, particularly two fish or 'shuang yu'. A cloisonné enamel dish decorated with a single fish, from the same period as the current bowl, is illustrated by Brinker and Lutz in Chinese Cloisonné: The Pierre Uldry Collection, New York, 1989, pl. 33.
