The present watch is delivered with its original gilt and leather-covered protective outer case as well as a later added gold and enamel outer case dating from circa 1770, the first to be used while travelling, the second for decoration purposes. Both cases are decorated with the initials FF.

It is furthermore fitted with an early version of the cylinder escapement, invented in the late 17th century and improved by Graham in 1726. The band of the inner case is decorated with the "Green Man", a mythical figure and symbol of good fortune and rebirth.

For an urn-shaped watch featuring the "Green Man" symbol on the dial plate see lot 90 in this auction.
