Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with enamel dial, Breguet numerals and gold ornament, green enamel back, chased half-openface case with Byzantine style decoration and set with amethysts in 1895 and its subsequent sale on 7 October 1898.

The designation "half open-face" was used for watches with wider bezels than usual and which were often finely decorated.
