Lot Essay

The painter of the present lot, and other pictures by the same hand, are traditionally attributed to Jan van Kessel I. However, Mr. Fred Meijer of the RKD, The Hague, now believes this group may be by an as yet unidentified artist, possibly originating in Jan van Kessel's studio.
