Each circular, the sides pierced with foliage scrolls below a rocaille and foliage rim, the bases engraved with foliage, scrolls and shells centring a coat-of-arms, marked on sides and bases
6 in. (15.2 cm.)
The arms are those of Sibthorp quartering Waldo impaling Ellis almost certainly for Rev. Humphrey Waldo Sibthorp (1786-1866) and his first cousin and wife Mary Esther (d. 1875), daughter of Henry Ellison of Thorne and Beverley, co. York, whom he married in 1818. He was educated at University College Oxford and was later a fellow of Exeter College from 1806 until 1818. He served as rector of Washingborough, co. Lincoln from 1817 and Hatton from 1824. (2)
