The make-up of the decoration on the present dish is typical of what is seen on wares attributed to Bernard Palissy and his immediate followers, in particular the coiled snake with white head and some of the shells and leaves. However, the softness of the molding and lack of surface detail and tooling is not typical of these early works. Compare, Christie's, New York, 20 October 2006, lot 445.
