Adolphe Louis Castex-Dégrange, French (1840-1918) attended the Lyon Academy of Fine Arts and made his debut at the Salon in 1867. From 1870 he exhibited still-lives at the Paris Salon, and for three years painted and designed for ceramics including the faience manufacturer Eugene Shopin Montigny-sur-Loing.
In 1884 he returned to the Lyon Academy of Fine Arts where he succeeded his former mentor Reignier as Professeur. He is recorded as the director of the Classe de Fleurs and Fabric Design until his death in 1918.
