The shaped rectangular padded seat above tapering square legs with flower and acanthus clasps and shuttered and punched panels, joined by acanthus-wrapped panelled and scrolled stretchers, on scrolled foliate feet, previously but not originally with castors, re-gilt

This stool is of the same model, and indeed probably one from the set of eight formerly in the collection of Sir John Fitzgerald, Bt., M.C., Knight of Kerry, sold in two sets of four Christie's London, 8 December 1949, lot 101, and 24 November 1955, lot 43. More recently a pair was sold The Property of a Lady, Christie's London, 6 December 1993, lot 155, and another pair The Property of a Philadelphia Family, Christie's New York, 21 October 1997, lot 6.
