Joseph Finney (b.c.1708-d.1772) was a clockmaker and architect. He is known to have designed the Octagon Chapel, Temple Court, Liverpool. He made musical and astronomical clocks, as well more ordinary examples. A superb musical and astronomical clock known as Mr Sandforth's clock is atttributed to him (see T. Robinson, The Longcase Clock, Woodbridge, 1981, pp. 310, 312-313) and was sold Christie's London, 30 June 1993, lot 294 (£78,500). Upon Finney's death Thomas Harrison took over his business.
