Provenance: George W[illiam] King (1822-1881, inside front wrapper with signature dated 'Oct. 21 1867' and his list of contents, further signature, address and date on front blank to second work: 'G.W. King 26 Montpelier Road May 8, 1845').
A record for the 1843-1846 seasons, published in the years 1844-47, Denison's Companion was the historical successor to the score books of Britcher and Bentley, and with Lillywhite's Guide set the precedent for Wisden's Almanack. George W. King, an amateur who played for Sussex, himself features in the scores though not in the biographical Sketches. FINE SET. Padwick 1068; 876 and 7201.
