Interior Luminescence As the Northern Hemisphere hours of daylight reduce so the visual attraction and warmth offered by candle or subtle electric light increases. Perhaps the most noticeable element of a dining table display is the light source and its design, that luxurious element which adds the finishing touch. The details of design show through; the cluster column candlesticks (lot 408), have boars head trophies to the bases; the Regency bronzed and ormolu candlesticks (lot 411) have storks drinking from waterfalls. Samuel Clarke's patented designs for 'Cricklites' were produced at the end of the 19th century in a variety of forms, lot 410 is a useful centerpiece with the addition of flower posy holders to the base and ideally is of a good height so as to avoid interfering with views of fellow diners.
